Legislation that would reduce pension benefits for all participants in the SURS system (FT, PT, CODAA, and non-CODAA alike) is now in play in the IL General Assembly as of Thursday May 26, 2011.
Among the provisions of SB 512:
- Forcing SURS members to pay hundreds, if not thousands, more into their pensions each year.
- Establishing 67 as the retirement age.
- Making members of SURS, who do not qualify for social security, rely on risky 401K retirement investment accounts for their retirement savings.
