CODAA members speak up at COD Board of Trustees Meeting for Fair Pay

Five members of CODAA spoke during the public comment section at the recent COD Board of Trustees Meeting on Thursday June 26, 2025. We all emphasized the importance of adjuncts to COD, as we teach over 70% of the course sections. We asked for a fair pay increase to keep pace with the high inflation rate in recent years.

Social Security update for Government Workers

CODAA is excited to announce that the Government Pension Offset (GPO) and Windfall Elimination Program (WEP) have been reversed by Congress and the President by the passage of the Social Security Fairness Act.  CODAA, IEA and NEA all lobbied members of Congress for the change.

GPO and WEP reduced the Social Security benefits for  workers who were receiving  a state or local pension such as SURS.  In some cases the Social Security benefit for current and future retirees could be cut by as much as 25 percent.  We will now get our full Social Security benefit that we deserve since we paid into it.

More details can be found on the NEA web site
